South America - the final bit

After four days of bliss in the Cook Islands, we fly back to Auckland for one night, to meet up with my writing friend Claire, before flying to Santiago.  We have three nights on the Chilean coast at Algarrobo, which apparently has the largest swimming pool in the world.  Not sure whether we'll go swimming in it, but we will be visiting Valparaiso and some of these:

Then we head off into O'Higgins Country to try glamping, which is basically camping, but in a dome with a bathroom and a hot-tub, where we can sit and sip wine while overlooking the spectacular scenery.  We'll spend the day touring wineries either by bike or on horseback.  After that we have a night in Santiago, before doing this:

'I know!' said Eddie.  'Let's get a bus across the Andes!'
Luckily, neither of us gets travel sick.  But of course, there is always a first time.  After a whole day of travelling, we arrive in Mendoza for two nights.  During the day, we'll be touring wineries, drinking lots of Malbec and eating lots of delicious Argentinian steak - I'm so glad we're not vegetarian.  After that, we head off to Cordoba, for one of the highlights of our trip - three nights on Los Potreros, a working Estancia, where we will spend the days doing this:

We haven't ridden for a long, long time, so we've asked them to be gentle with us:

After that, we are off to Buenos Aires  for two nights, where Eddie has booked us into a hotel that provides free tango lessons.  We've never tangoed in our lives.  We've never done any other type of dancing either, so it will be an interesting experience.  After that we're spending two nights on the Argentinian side of Iguazu Falls to see a bit of this:

After visiting the Brazilian side, we fly to Rio for three nights.  We're staying in Santa Theresa  an area where lots of writers live, so hopefully it'll get me back in the mood before we head off home.  Meanwhile, we'll be doing (ie watching) lots of this:

Oh, and we'll be drinking lots of coffee to sober up.

And that's it!  Thanks for joining us!  Once we get going, we'll tell you what it was really like!
